Dr. Lisa Powell is a Licensed Pediatric Psychologist specializing in integrated pediatric primary care. She currently serves as Growth Manager for HealthySteps, a national program of ZERO TO THREE, where she leads efforts to expand the reach of the HealthySteps model, including behavioral health promotion, prevention, and dyadic services within pediatric primary care settings.
Before joining HealthySteps in January 2020, Dr. Powell was the Director of Primary Care Behavioral Health at Open Arms Children’s Health, where she designed and launched a fully integrated, team-based pediatric health care program to support children’s overall wellness. In that role, she provided behavioral health consultation and brief interventions for children with medical, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs—working closely with primary care providers, care coordinators, and community health workers. She also co-delivered routine well-child visits as a HealthySteps Specialist, focusing on prevention, developmental guidance, and family support.
Previously, Dr. Powell served as Director of Outpatient Psychological Services at Open Arms, overseeing behavioral health operations, supervising staff and doctoral trainees, and offering direct clinical services to children and families.
With over three decades of experience, Dr. Powell has provided clinical care in hospitals, community mental health centers, homes, and schools; trained and supervised doctoral-level students; and maintained a private practice. She earned her master’s degree from George Washington University and her doctoral degree from Northeastern University. Her clinical training includes both a pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Louisville Medical School, Department of Psychiatry.
