Aimee Winder Newton currently serves as senior advisor to Governor Cox, overseeing the Office of Families. In this role, she advocates for proactive policies to strengthen all types of families in Utah. Aimee also serves part-time on the Salt Lake County Council. She was the first woman elected chair of the council and has focused on mental health, intergenerational poverty, and criminal justice reform.

Aimee has previously served as a planning commissioner, city communications director, and executive for an energy company, and was a 2020 candidate for Utah governor. She graduated from the University of Utah, operated her small business for 20 years, and has four young adult children. She and her husband, Matt, have been married for 29 years and got their very first pet during Covid – a mini golden doodle puppy. She loves to play games and travel with her family.
