Coordinator for Prevention and Student Services Utah State Board of Education

Tanya Albornoz is the Coordinator for the Prevention and Student Services team at the Utah State Board of Education, where she has been working since January of 2020.  Tanya's current duties include overseeing school-based prevention efforts, school counseling, and trauma-sensitive school initiatives.  Prior to her time at USBE, Tanya worked in Utah's child welfare system for 20 years, the last 13 as the state Foster Care Program Administrator.  Tanya graduated with her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Utah and is currently licensed as a Clinical Social Worker.   She also works part-time as a therapist at a youth-focused treatment center.   Tanya is an advocate for school-based mental health services and all services, programs, initiatives, and interventions that assist students and families in a strength-based, collaborative, equitable, and trauma-informed manner.  She is also the mother of three beautiful daughters.
