AM Breakout Session - The Competencies: An Overview of What They Are, Who They were Created for, and the Intention of Bringing Them to Utah to Support the Work

Codie received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Utah State University and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Brigham Young University. Codie has spent the majority of her career working with children, youth, and families. Her passion lies in community and system development to help improve access and support for children with behavioral health needs. Codie has worked in the public mental health system, non-profit sector, and with the State of Utah overseeing early childhood mental health services throughout the state.

While working for the State of Utah, Codie assisted in the adoption of the infant and early childhood mental health competencies and endorsement system as well as helping to improve the education of early childhood professionals to better support the social emotional development of young children. Currently, Codie works with Primary Children's Lehi hospital overseeing the crisis and behavioral health inpatient therapy teams. Through her experience, Codie has come to adopt the mindset that the best way to support the long term success of young children is to improve the capacity of the adults surrounding them. That mindset continues to guide her approach to working with children, youth, and families.
