AM Breakout Session - The Competencies: An Overview of What They Are, Who They were Created for, and the Intention of Bringing Them to Utah to Support the Work
During high school, I began working part-time as a classroom teacher with preschoolers and continued working in the childcare field for many years. This led to my work in Utah’s childcare resource and referral system (now Care About Childcare). My deep involvement in the early childhood community then took me back to The Children’s Center where I had volunteered for a summer between my junior and senior years of high school. Since that time, about 22 years ago, I have been training and consulting to support front-line early childhood practitioners and supervised consultants and coaches doing the same. Sometime in that journey I unwittingly took a road less traveled, that of Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation. During the last ten years, I have intentionally directed my professional development toward infant early childhood mental health and the emerging field of consultation. I am always honored to participate with my colleagues to promote, provide and/or advocate for services to support our young children, their families and other caregivers.
