Claire Andersen, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. Andersen started volunteering at The Children's Center at the age of 14, and after graduating high school, began working at The Children's Center as a therapeutic preschool specialist. Dr. Andersen completed medical school through the University of Utah. For her general psychiatry residency, Claire attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where she completed research on different therapeutic preschools operating in the United States. Dr. Andersen completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at UC San Diego, with unique experiences working with families using the evidence-based Incredible Years parenting curriculum, and organizing a treatment group for 5-6 year olds with behavior problems. After completing her training in 2015, Claire worked as a child and adolescent psychiatrist in one of the county mental health clinics in New Zealand, working with children of the native Maori population.
