Volunteer Coordinator

Summary

The Children’s Center has an opening for a part-time Volunteer Coordinator. This position is in the Development Department and will work closely with the Volunteer and Community Relations Manager to support the volunteer base in our Therapeutic Preschool, and will assist with other fundraising activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Volunteer and Community Relations Manager to develop community partnerships that will support the work of The Children’s Center and our fundraising objectives
  • Recruit and match potential volunteers with appropriate volunteer opportunities
  • Provide appropriate training for volunteers, and continual support in the form of scheduling, tracking, and verifying volunteer hours
  • Support internal communications with volunteers and staff
  • Maintain physical and electronic files for volunteers
  • Support Development Team with annual fundraisers and recognition events to include preparation for fundraising events, sorting and packaging auction items, proofreading materials, and assisting with mailings
  • Assist with community outreach opportunities, such as tabling at events, meeting with potential community partners, or presenting in high school and college classes
  • Create and implement system for receiving, documenting, recognizing, and managing in-kind donations at both locations. Support marketing activities such as taking photographs, supporting social media strategies, writing/editing marketing materials including newsletters, annual reports, and gift receipts
  • Other duties as assigned

The Children’s Center is a highly-respected nonprofit organization providing comprehensive mental health care to children and their families across the socioeconomic spectrum. The Children's Center is the recognized local expert in treatment related to childhood trauma for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We offer a range of services based upon the mental health needs of each child and family, including outpatient family and group therapy, and therapeutic preschool services.   • You are detail oriented. You can schedule and maintain volunteer files. You are able to track meetings, and set appointments with staff and community partners.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. College coursework in a related field preferred
  • Nonprofit experience, particularly in the areas of volunteer coordination, development, or marketing preferred
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have own transportation to travel between sites and to community partners and events

Schedule

Approximately 20 hours per week. Based at our Kearns location, but will need to spend some time at our Salt Lake location.

Compensation

$12-$14/hour based on qualifications.
